Researchers can use VideoTranscriptGen to create a timestamped first draft from interviews, usability sessions, or field recordings. The transcript makes it easier to locate passages and begin coding, but it does not replace consent, secure data handling, or manual verification.
Protect participant information
Confirm that participant consent covers recording and third-party processing. Avoid uploading highly sensitive material unless you have evaluated the service, providers, retention period, and your institution's requirements. Remove unnecessary identifying information from working copies where appropriate.
Preserve an audit trail
Keep timestamps when correcting the automated output so important interpretations can be traced to the source. Distinguish verbatim quotation from researcher paraphrase. Review speaker labels, technical terms, names, and passages with cross-talk before analysis.
